Academic editing services

I am an experienced academic editor with an interest in government, business and law, the humanities and arts, and social policy research.

I am proficient in APA and AGLC referencing.

Let’s start with a quote and go from there.

For theses, ideally we’ll need at least a month before your deadline for submission.

For other academic papers/articles/texts/proposals/reports, we can be more flexible.

  • Please send me an email and tell me the topic, the approximate word count, your degree/where your work will be published, and your deadline. Please include a sample of the work (the entire document, or a chapter from the middle is best, even if it’s a work in progress).

  • I will then make an assessment and send you an editing brief and a quote via email, including the suggested start date and return date.

As a member of the Institute of Professional Editors, I work according to the Guidelines for Editing Research Thesesand any relevant university/faculty editing policy and/or style guide. Like many editors, I use AI tools, but only for mechanical or consistency checks. I always review every suggestion manually and make all editorial decisions myself. I do not use generative AI to rewrite or generate text. I do not upload or copy text into large language models, so your unpublished work remains safe and original with me. And, if you used AI to assist your writing, I will fix any common errors it has introduced.

My academic editing services include:

  • correcting errors of spelling, punctuation and grammar

  • ensuring the use of tense is correct and consistent

  • ensuring clarity of expression and flow of the text
